Artist’s Statement

I would consider the bulk of my work to be Contemporary.  I start to work with a concept or idea that has been muddling in my mind which helps me to visit my unconscious creativity. Work that emerges from this connection opens me to trust my intuition and my imagination both of which usually gives me my strongest work. As the work takes shape I liken it to a dance between my conscious ideals and my unconscious realism that one must face when the door is kicked open. I view this as an ideal place to reside.Seeing the raw side of myself and working with my hands are a tempting lot!  I get a kick out of experimentation using old or new tools I am creating a style that defines my work now and in the future.

“New research supports what many experimental artists, habitual travelers and other novel seekers have always insisted: at least some of the time, disorientation begets creative thinking.”

(The New York Times, 10/5/09 -”How nonsense sharpens the intellect” by, Benedict Cary).
